“The Vintner’s Luck” a major feature film directed by Niki Caro (“Whale Rider”) requires extras
“The Vintner’s Luck” - a major feature film being directed by Niki Caro (“Whale Rider”) - is being shot in Auckland and requires extras. No acting experience is necessary.
Shooting: Monday 18th to Thursday 21st February
ROLES:

- Peasants:
We are looking for Slavic or French looking people with character faces. All ages considered. As this is set in the 1800s, the younger men, boys and women need to have long hair with no unnatural looking hair colours, and men need to be unshaven. We are really keen to get a true mix of looks and would welcome slightly oddball or unusual looking people; perhaps even missing a limb or similar. Some experience with grape harvesting would also be useful.
It could be between one to three days work over the shoot period. You would also need to be available for a wardrobe fitting either the week beginning 4 February or 11 February.
- French Soldiers:
Very thin French-looking men of all ages. Must have long hair and be prepared to be unshaven for a few weeks. You would be needed for one shoot day on Monday 18th February 2008, together with a wardrobe fitting either the week beginning 4 February or 11 February.
- Casting Note:
We are looking to get “real” people from the community. What they want are really interesting faces, e.g. missing teeth, old weathered faces, unusual (maybe even deformed in some way), missing limbs or just very character-driven faces of peasants that would have been working on vineyards in France during the 1800s. The women need to have long hair and no unnatural colours (which can be problematic for many of the older ones who colour their hair). Obviously the older men and women can have shorter hair, but the younger men and boys definitely need to have longer hair and preferably be unshaven.
