Synopsis

A shy guy wants to ask out his childhood best friend at her birthday barbecue that evening. He thinks through how this could be done - This will be done via a daydream sequence looking ahead to the evening - but realises he is has no idea how to do it. During a game of Squash his Sporty, Confident friend decides to tell him how to go about this. His friend gives him some tips on how to ask a girl out. - His friend narrates another dream sequence of him asking the girl out using his advice, with perfect results. His father picks him up from the courts and during the journey asks about the girls party, and starts to give his son advice on asking women out. - again another dream sequence narrated by the father, with perfect results. Once home the main character gets a phone call from his romantically minded friend, who starts to tell him what he should do in the evening, it is apparent that everybody knows about this - another repeat of the dream sequence, with the new advice. Another of his friends is at the door, and comes up to his room to give his two cents on the arising situation, this friend is a joker, and begins to fill his head with nonsense as he enjoys other's misery. Joker and the Main Character arrive at the party, and meet the Sporty Guy. They coerce him towards the girl at the end of the garden, and watch in anticipation through the patio windows. The main character has tried to take so much advice at this stage, that he has got confused as to what to do and litterly tries to combine the advice of his nosey old fashioned father, his cocky athletic friend, his dramatic romantic friend and his so-called joke-playing friend into one chat-up attempt. This is played out in a sharp reality check (unlike the flashbacks) with less than perfect, amusing results for the onlookers. This girl knows of his affection in the same way everyone else seems to know, and finds his awful attempt to ask her out sweet, resulting in an unexpected, but happy ending.
