Play Dead is an exciting short film project shooting in Sheffield in February 2010.

It tells the tale of Samson, a neglected young boy with very little to do over the school holidays. One day he finds his friend and neighbour Maureen Fraser dead.

On the day of her funeral he has a verbal altercation with a man who lives on his street. The disturbed Samson is instantly convinced that this man is responsible for Maureen’s death.

The boy promptly embroils his friends in a hate campaign against him. They soon lose interest, but Samson carries on alone until he takes it too far.

Due to the low budget nature of the project only expenses can be paid and of course a DVD of the film will be provided on completion.

Please Note: We are only looking for actors based in the South Yorkshire area.

Samson

Intense, brooding and charismatic. A loner at heart, yet he has friends over whom he has a strong and dominant influence.

Males, aged 10 to 14 from the United Kingdom

Maureen

A kind and popular lady with a slight spinsterish quality. Although outwardly friendly she has a strange and enigmatic bond with Samson.

Females, aged 55 to 70 from the United Kingdom
