Lydia, a divorced woman with a 10-year old son Paul, finds out she is terminally ill. She has no other relatives, and the boy’s father, Mark, a successful businessman who is about to marry for the second time, seems to be ashamed of his neurotic and shy son, who was deeply shaken by his parents’ nasty divorce. As Mark withdraws further and further away from Paul, Lydia realizes she has to find a way to connect the father and the son once again. Prepared to do anything but let Paul watch his mother die in front of him from a debilitating disease, Lydia comes up with a plan on how to awaken Mark’s fatherly feelings. The price she has to pay for it, however, is forever estranging Paul from herself, sacrificing her relationship with her son to do him a greater good.
