Short film for Scouts National Jamboree - 3 actors needed - Queensland

Casting complete. Applications are now closed.

The film is to be integrated into a "Where's Wally come Amazing Race" type game at the Scouts National Jamboree in Maryborough, January 2013. Around 13 000 Scouts from all over Australia are expected to attend the event and will be the audience for the production. The purpose of the film is to develop a back story for the characters and help explain the parameters of the game to the Scouts in a humorous and engaging way.

Before continuing I will point out that this is a volunteer film, so all the roles, including crew and production, are unpaid. However the film will be shown on the buses moving the scouts from their accommodation to the events’ staging ground. All the Scouts attending the Jamboree will be watching this film. This is a large event.

The shooting dates are 25 – 27 June. The main shooting location at present is the Ashgrove Uniting Church, located on Glory Street, Ashgrove West. Location 2 will be at QUT Kelvin Grove.

The film will be in the style of a debriefing video and is aimed at a younger (12-15 years) audience. We are having some fun with it though, injecting humour and focusing on story and entertainment rather than rules and details (the scouts will get detailed event information from their leaders once they arrive).

Audition date TBA

Payment details: no pay

Auditions will be held Tuesday 19 June at QUT Kelvin Grove, in the Z2 building "The Loft" on Musk Ave from 6pm. We will be contacting shortlisted applicants tomorrow.

Cheers,
David Nash
Production Assistant.

Henry Gribble

Chief and proprietor of IISA, he is resolute with a deadpan stare. However his years of service and the declining resources of IISA have taken its toll and Gribble isn’t the battle-hardened man he once was.

Males, aged 40 to 99 from Queensland, Australia

  • Minimum Acting experience: No previous acting experience

Jimmy Keller

We need a young-looking talent to play Jimmy Keller - Scout leader and liaison to IISA. Jimmy’s a nice kid, simple and somewhat naïve he is Gribble’s connection to the Scouts. Jimmy will reiterate and clarify what Gribble is saying. His unassuming demeanour is balanced by a few moments of poignant thinking.

Males, aged 18 to 24 from Queensland, Australia

  • Minimum Acting experience: No previous acting experience

Diane (News anchor)

Diane is a news anchor of a regional tv station, eg WIN.

Females, aged 30 to 60 from Queensland, Australia
