Actors are needed for a short film produced by former International Film School Students. The short film is a dialogue-driven drama about the consequences of deciding to have a baby in an unforgiving climate. Further details about the plot will be provided in the script.
This is a dialogue-driven piece, so we are looking for actors who can not only convey emotion, but can present good pacing and usage of the words. American TV show The Wire is probably the easiest way to describe the kind of pacing we are going for, although we will develop our own artistic approach to the material.
This is unfortunately an unpaid job, however we will give you plenty of footage for your showreel, provide catering and so forth. We're trying to shoot this as well as we can, so you can be assured of a high-quality final product.
We are hoping to get funding to cover costs via crowdfunding, and we will run behind-the-scenes videos and a production blog which you'd be a part of. We hope to maybe organise it to be shown at festivals and have a DIY premiere at a cinema in Sydney.
If you're happy to work with a friendly but dedicated team on bringing an original story to life, we'd love to hear from you. Actors are welcome to apply for more than one role.
If you'd like to see some footage so you know you're not wasting your time on a crappy production, we'll be happy to send through some test footage.
We'd also really appreciate it if you have some showreel material to look at, especially with dialogue, otherwise we can sort this out via audition.
Estimated shooting: February 2013
Estimated premiere: June/July 2013
Final use: To be submitted to film festivals and/or posted online via Vimeo/YouTube etc
Location: Most likely suburban Sydney, depending on final locations. Actors must be able to travel to location.
