The Story ~ Retch is not a love story, but a first love story. Retch is an abstract short film from writer/ director Caitlin Noah following a young girl named Sam as she experiences past memories with her first love Robbie. Through her nostalgic and dark visions of their relationship we see her grow physically and emotionally sick in the present. Sam searches for ways to release herself from the haunting memories left behind by her first heartbreak and to find her true self that is hidden beneath her naive exterior.

Character Breakdowns

Sam ~ 17-21 year old girl with dark hair (preferably short, but not required) with light skin tone. She is afraid of growing up and feeling independence so she tries to hide herself from the realities that force her to move in that direction, most of all her mother. She romanticizes her relationship with Robbie and refuses to see beyond her girlish fantasies of their relationship.

Robbie ~ 17- 21 year old boy with dark hair and light eyes (but not required). He hides many of his true emotions because he is afraid of what the outcome may be and when he does release them they come out all at once in full force. In many ways he is a coward but his strength comes through when he finally reveals that he is not in love with Sam anymore.

Mary ~ Mid 40’s with dark hair and a light skin tone. She has been through a lot raising her family at a young age and now raising Sam on her own, but her naturally strong nature has caused her to grow wisdom from her life’s troubles. She has worked hard to gain a high paying job but that has kept her and Sam from having as close of a relationship as she would like for them to have.

Unfortunately, this film is unpaid, however it will definitely be something you will want to have on your acting reel/resume, and it will be submitted to film festivals all across the country.! It’s a great way to get your face out there and be a part of something creative and innovative!
