PROJECT SYNOPSIS:
Johnny, a boxer and alcoholic, awakens in hospital; bandaged, bruised and bedridden. His friend since childhood, Kelly, is nowhere in sight. He panics, as he is unable to accurately recollect the memories of what put him in his present state. When the nurse arrives to find him awake from his three-day coma, she rushes back out. She returns with “Johnny’s father”, Arturo and leaves them alone. What follows is a tense stand-off. Arturo leaves but his words shake Johnny and now he only wants the answer to one question – is Kelly fine? Unsatisfied with the answer given, Johnny forces himself to overcome his current physical limitations in order to locate his childhood friend. After a struggle down the hall, a heated stare-off with the nurse and his crutch being taken from him, Johnny finally finds Kelly in a coma and learns that she has little chance of surviving. Johnny has no choice but to sit by Kelly’s bed and watch as her life slips away, her dog tags tangled between one of her hands and his.
