A multicultural, Melbourne based short drama

'Your Driver’s Name Is' is a short form Drama about a lower working class Indian taxi driver, Raj, dealing with the dangers of racist hate crime from a drunken weekend passenger. The unique twist to this narrative is that the passenger incidentally happens to be Raj's old school rival.
Shooting dates will be between the 1st of December and the 11th. Approximately a two day shoot, dates are yet to be confirmed. A majority of the filming will take part inside a taxi in Melbourne's CBD.
This would be a great opportunity to have some high quality footage for your show-reel as well as reaching a mass audience as we intend to run this film beyond the Tropfest circuit later next year.
Catering will be provided on the day however no payment is available as this project is independently funded.

Luke Baker

Males, aged 20 to 30 from Victoria, Aus

Mid - twenties, medium build, clean cut. Luke is a modern Australian metro-type who is a tradesman. He is racist, yet it’s obvious that he understands what he is saying and isn’t being entirely serious. He enjoys winding people up and gets humorous pleasure from it, and knows how to handle himself when in trouble, having been bullied at school.

Raj

Males, aged 20 to 30 from Victoria, Aus

Mid - twenties, slight build, clean cut, glasses, Indian ethnicity. Raj is an India-Australian who moved to Australia when he was 14, and speaks with a slight Indian accent. He enjoys living here and was a bully in high school, a little bit of a smart-arse and different from the stereotypical Indian taxi driver image. He enjoys playful mockery and sarcasm, yet loathes racial generalisations. He embraces his Hindu faith as a result of his upbringing.

Store Clerk

Males, aged 27 to 35 from Victoria, Aus

Early thirties, unshaven Indian man with slight “beer belly”. He is bored and looks like he would much rather be somewhere else than a service station.

Hoodlum # 1

Males, aged 18 to 23 from Victoria, Aus

Early twenties/late teens. A delinquent, skinny, pale Melbournian who lives in a tracksuit around train stations. He is heavily involved in juvenile crime. He is obnoxious and offensive.

Hoodlum # 2

Males, aged 15 to 20 from Victoria, Aus

Mid-teens, impressionable young criminal, who is being shown the ropes by his older counterpart, best described as a “little shit”. He is rude and loud, a victim of his upbringing.
