About Paper Street Pictures

We are a group of Final year Film production students from all over Europe at University of Central Lancashire. We aren't just students, as many of us have had experience on professional film sets, corporate video, TV advertising, and within the BBC in Manchester. We also recently played a huge part in creating the first Undergraduate Feature Film.

We don't want the student title to phase us, because we work at a professional level, and are producing some new exciting content; including an ambitious Interactive Film Project.

We are currently casting for an exciting modern day crime caper, with a comic book twist. Drifting away from the gritty "gangster" crime films that Britain has been producing, JASON, gives us a fun, exciting every man, and turns him into the detective we always wanted to be.

The film is directed by Sam Waters; an award winning film maker from the Isle of Man, who has worked on many professional shorts, as well feature films; such as The Disappearance of Alice Creed.

JASON

Young party animal Jason Bickle is a rebellious and mysterious character who lives a rock and roll life style through drinking and miscellaneous drug use. When his girlfriend, Katharine, is kidnapped Jason must investigate several different people in order to track her down. Through the use of his unorthodox methods and techniques at the end of the film Jason realises he has the potential to become a great detective.

Themes of the film touch across stereotypes in young society and no matter how neglected, looked down or stubborn we can be, hidden deep within us all is the potential to do good.

The film will undertake similar tones as seen in films such as Brick (Rian Johnson, 2005). Even though the story is grounded in reality the film will feature comic book styled effects similar to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (Edgar Wright, 2010) to emphasise Jasons own perception of his situation.

The script has been developed for quite some time, and is in place where we are confident it could be turned into something special.

Although we have already casted the leading roles we are looking for people to be cast as other roles within the film.

Filming will take place during the second half of March, and we will be paying expenses.
