PUPPET CHARACTER ROLES
Princeton, a fresh-faced kid just out of college; single-rod puppet; tenor; possible duel role with Rod.
Kate Monster, a kindergarten teaching assistant, a bit older than Princeton; single-rod puppet; mezzo; possible duel role with Lucy.
Rod, a Republican investment banker with a secret; double-rod puppet; tenor; possible duel role with Princeton
Nicky, a bit of a slacker, who lives Rod; live-hands puppet; tenor; possible duel role with Trekkie Monster
Trekkie Monster, a reclusive creature obsessed by the Internet; live-hands puppet; tenor; possible duel role with Nicky
Lucy, a vixenish vamp with a dangerous edge; double-rod puppet; alto/mezzo; possible duel role with Kate Monster
The Bad Idea Bears, two snuggly, cute teddy-bear types; double-rod puppets; mezzo/tenor; cast from ensemble
Mrs T., ancient, Kate’s boss; live-hands puppet; soprano; cast from ensemble

HUMAN CHARACTER ROLES
Christmas Eve, a therapist who moved to Ave Q from Japan; mezzo (with belt); must be able to pass as Asian; speaks with a Japanese accent
Brian, a laid-back guy married to Christmas Eve; tenor
Gary Coleman. Yes, that Gary Coleman. He’s the superintendent on Ave Q!; alto (female role); must be able to pass as African-American
ENSEMBLE work includes additional cameo puppet-roles, secondary hands for live-hands puppets and off-stage singing. Understudies for all roles will be cast from among the ensemble.

AUDITION SESSIONS
There will be three sessions of auditions in the first round. Times are listed below. These sessions are essentially open-calls and you will need to be present at the start of the appropriate session.
Human Roles: Saturday 18 February – Registration 4:15pm for 4:30pm start
Male Puppet Roles: Sunday 19 February – Registration 9:45am for 10am start
Female Puppet Roles: Sunday 19 February – Registration 1:45pm for 2pm start
Venue: Julie-ann Lucas School of Dance; Cnr of Ipswich Rd & Devon St, Annerley (next to Video Ezy)
If you cannot be available for the currently scheduled sessions, please register with the Theatre Office to be added to a waitlist in case additional sessions are called.
