As part of a Summer Media Programme at the Sutton Life Centre, Richard Paris Wilson (director of music videos for the likes of Toploader, The Agitator) is attempting an ambitious project involving a collaboration between industry professionals and talented students.
While the Director, DoP, Makeup and Costume will be headed up by professionals, other key crew members and much of the pre-production is being organised by students aged between 13-16, for an Edward Sharpe and Magnetic Zeroes track aptly named 'Child'. The video is an exciting and unique opportunity to see what young people can be capable of.
Our video idea incorporates fairytale and carnival elements, and we're looking for somebody with experience in creating and designing interesting and absurd sets. The idea revolves around children stumbling upon a surreal, slightly creepy carnival world, not too dissimilar to the world glimpsed in the 'Be There' Smirnoff ad campaign of a few years ago. The video will have a similar visual feel to 'Where the Wild Things Are', and we're hoping to shoot it either this coming weekend (11th and 12th of August), or the weekend after (18th and 19th)
The music video is for a Genero.tv competition. The song is called 'Child' by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. Here's a link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn9Ima1lbVk
We're looking for somebody to come on board and help us shape the world. We've got a small budget for the set and for your respective fee.
It promises to be a really fun, unique project.
