Are you harbouring a dangerous idea you’d love to see on Australian screens – but reckon no one out there wants to know?

Then try us - they’re the very ideas we want.

We’re looking for strong, exciting, subversive ideas; a project of exceptional quality that would make for great Australian television, film or new media, if only somebody would back it.

We want to see ideas that take courage to think, to say and to produce.

It’s not about a hard life, or writing your script under difficult circumstances.
While that may take courage, it’s not the courage we’re seeking.

We are interested in the courage of your idea. One that will cause ripples long after you have cast your stone. One that challenges the groupthink.

We want ideas of substance, intelligence and purpose that will take viewers outside their comfort zone. They could be comedy, drama, documentary or a mixture of all three. And we want writers with the talent, tenacity and passion to tell the story the way it needs to be told.

We want to back a groundbreaking, status quo challenging project and if we don’t find it we reserve the right not to award the disfellowship.

It’s not a ‘Fellowship’ it’s a Disfellowship. Why? Because winning it may mean that your nan disowns you, your neighbours shun you and the shock jocks call for you to be locked up.

The Kit Denton Disfellowship is a grant and support worth $30,000 to help you get your idea written for screen production.

We invite you to step up and be heard.

ABOUT THE DISFELLOWSHIP

The Kit Denton Disfellowship is given in honour of Kit Denton, father of Andrew Denton, who was a respected and admired member of the writing community. First presented in 2007 (as the Kit Denton Fellowship) it is a grant, with legal support from TressCox Laywers, worth $30,000 to help get a pioneering idea written for screen production.??

Cordell Jigsaw Zapruders (CJZ), Australia’s largest privately owned television production company, is the major sponsor of this year’s Disfellowship.?CJZ are the ideal supporters of the Disfellowship, given their background in creating groundbreaking and often controversial programs such as Cordell Jigsaw’s Go Back to Where You Came From and the upcoming Dumb, Drunk and Racist and award winning comedy such as Stupid Stupid Man. The team at Zapruders is well known for The Gruen Transfer, Hungry Beast and Enough Rope, for introducing The Chasers to television, and for their innovative formats.??

An additional incentive to enter the Disfellowship is that CJZ will help the ongoing development and production of the winner’s project.
