Stage manager needed for Christian stage play - London
We need a stage manager who can take charge of the following:
Create a lighting mood for each of the scenes
Put together the relevant sound effects (music will be provided where needed)
Assist with ideas for the set
Assist with blocking
On the night:
Ensure everything needed for the set is in place
Operate the lights and sound effects
Communicate any problems to actors back stage via radio
The show runs from 18th - 23rd Sep 2012. You will need to be available ALL DAY on Mon 17th & Tues 18th Sep. 5pm - 10pm on Wed, Thurs & Fri. 12pm - 10pm on Sat & Sun.
Mon 17th is our 'get in' day when the set will go up, lights will be programmed, cast will do dress rehearsal etc. It will be a very busy day, therefore as much as possible needs to be decided before hand and for quick an easy implementation on the day. As such, you will work closely with the producer and director of the play in the weeks leading up to opening night. This means you will also have to be flexible to allow time to attend the rehearsals.
We do have someone who will be working solely with props so you will not need to look after that aspect.
The Lost Theatre is a brilliant venue with extremely helpful and friendly staff who will assist you in programming the lights once you communicate to them the desired effect. Their technology is very up to date so it's an excellent opportunity to gain or further your experience of stage managing. Your name will appear in the programs which will be printed for the play and your photograph will appear on our website before hand.
The role is a ‘no pay’ role but depending on profits, we should be able to cover your expenses for show nights. Food and refreshments will be provided for the Mon, Tues, Sat and Sunday.
The production is a comedy drama. The actors, director and producer are all fantastic people to work with - although it will be demanding, it's guaranteed to be a fun role in a friendly and welcoming environment!
We need someone who is dedicated and has a basic understanding of how theatre lighting, blocking etc. works. As we have done with other productions, we will be taking this show on tour next year so you will also have the opportunity to work in other theatres across the country should you wish to.
All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
