Bristleface is a youth-orientated co-op musical from the production team who successfully staged the plays ‘Mill Boys’ at the Collingwood Underground Theatre, and ‘Matilda’s Project’ at Ceres, Brunswick, in 2011.

Bristleface is a musical adaptation of the children’s book of the same name which revolves around the life of Jase, a homeless teenage boy and his ugly dog who are taken into a community in the Deep South, in the early 1900s.

The producers, Platypus Theatre and Dramazing Productions, are looking for experienced sound and lighting crew to assist with effects, songs and visuals.

Bristleface will be a highly energetic, two-hour production, with plenty of dialogue, singing and dancing required. The producers are looking for people who want to take on fun and challenging roles in a full-length play.

The production will be performed during the September holidays in 2012.

The producers have extensive experience in putting on theatrical productions and adhere to Equity standards for co-op productions. The production will be profit share with discussion open for retainers for crew.

We are keen to hear from you.

All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Location: Victoria, Australia

Lighting tech

As the play is about a boy and his dog and there is no dog on stage the effect of an animal, and its movement, will need to be created by lighting. There is a lot of interaction with the imaginary dog so the person will need experience with mobile spotlights and how to make these interact with character movement.

Sound tech

The sound crew will need experience with queuing and effects as there are musical numbers throughout, some of which stop and start in between dialogue.
