Female Singer/Dancer Wanted for award-winning South Qld Showband

I am contacting all the talent schools in Greater Brisbane in an effort to find talented young ladies who can sing and/or dance for an award-winning production show I run.

We are finding auditions an arduous process as good talent is hard to find.

I am a full-time entertainer and manager of a show that performs throughout South Qld.

My Blue Card registration number is 599268/1.

Please be assured that I run a 'family-friendly', reputable business.

"The Fabulous Sounds Of The Sixties Show" is an 11 person show plus production.

We play venues such as Kedron-Wavell Services Club, Twin Towns Services Club, corporate functions and outdoor festivals.

We've won Best Production Show at the last three Entertainer Of The Year Awards for Clubs in South Qld.

We are looking for a talented female singer/dancer or a dancer, aged 14-18, for this production. The girls are known as The Love Bugs.

You can visit our myspace page on application or Facebook I Darren J Ray & the Love Bugs.

This is a bonafide venture. Natalie Blair (Gold Logie nominee 2007/08) was a part of our show for over two years and only left when she was cast in Neighbours.

Poli Cameron (Neighbours) and Megan Washington (multi-ARIA award winner) are also ex-Love Bugs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKLIdpuixWc).

I have personal and professional references for myself and my group plus testimonials from current and former group members.

Image is a crucial part of the shows.

The image is young people doing music from 40 years ago. We all look like we just stepped out of 1965 so the piercings and tattooed brigade need not apply!

The girls' roles are as singers and also dancers.

The other girls in the show all started around 16 years of age.

There are photos of the girls on the myspace and Facebook.

There is a five-minute video of the show (locatable under 'Videos') on our myspace.

The shows are from one to four hours duration. We endeavour to bring new girls slowly, allocating them certain brackets at first but not an entire show.

We treat it as business. Hence we have an alcohol-free, drug-free policy in the show.

We are a happy group of mainly young and ambitious performers. Egos are left at the door upon arriving. Attitudes don't make it to the door!

We currently perform anywhere from no times to two nights a week. Presently, we average about a show per fortnight (on weekends). (We understand if young ladies cannot commit to this schedule. Hence, we'd like a 'pool' of girls to call upon).

Training simply involves two or three initial rehearsals and then a rehearsal once every few months (for new material).

Money is anywhere from $50-$150 a show, averaging $100 plus for most shows. Money is paid promptly into respective bank accounts usually the week following the weekend's performances.

The show has been going since 2002. Prior to that, my band has been working since 1990. I went full-time in 1992.

The audition process is quite painless and takes about 45 minutes.

I hold the singing audition at Alderley. I like to meet the young ladies and at least one parent at the audition.

I phone all auditionees a fortnight later with simply a 'yes' (which is an invitation to come back for a second audition, usually at Mt Gravatt, which includes dancing) or a 'no, not at this stage'.

Auditions are a positive experience for all concerned.

I acknowledge a strong duty of care to all who work in my organisation, particularly young ladies.

I have a good relationship with all parents of the young ladies who are in my employ.

Experience is not necessary; just talent, a good look, a great attitude and the desire to work well within a team.

I certainly welcome enquiries whether they be from students, teachers or parents.
