Okay so if you are a singer/vocalist with a passion to get your name out there youtube can be a brilliant tool. there are like hundreds of aspiring artists building up an online presence with their cover versions of popular songs, some of them are actually pretty decent and they even make quite a bit of cash thru Itunes sales the rest of them suck and are really just there to get their 15 minutes of fame. I recently started posting "Rap" covers. I'd basically hear a record and then I'd re-write it creating a whole new song that still stayed true to the message of the original then I'd get the backing track/ instrumental and rap over it. without any marketing or promotion whatsoever a lil buzz started building up and I want to make it more of a regular thing now, like one or two covers a week type thing.
What am looking for is a singer, You dont neccesarily have to be into Hip Hop infact with all the rubbish hip hop out at the moment not being a fan is a bonus...the idea is to actually get songs that are far removed from rap and then re-writing them so that what we have is a re-vamped quirky version that features my rap vocals in places, your singing in places and you replicating the Chorus lyrics and singing em in your own style.
I am based in Watford and like literally seconds away from the underground station. Ideally you will be able to swing down like once a week, hang, write and film a cover (my wifey has just bought the coolest HD video camera)
The dream is that the covers will start gaining a following and creating an online fanbase and with follow up gigs, videos etc we should be able to build it up to the point where even if we were to independently release stuff on Itunes, we'd get some decent sells :)
Am 24, chilled, ambitious, easy to get along with, in love with all things music, Married to my soulmate, father to a 1 year old, loyal, a bit of a geek and all around a decent dude :)
I have attached a few of my covers just to give you a rough idea :) If you are interested, then give me a shout and we'll get this thing started.
