Male and female actors (25-60) required for theatre production in Oamaru

Casting no. 72341 - Otago, NZ
| Casting complete: Applications now closed. |
'The Great Storm of 1868' is looking for three actors for performances from December through April

'The Great Storm of 1868' is a one act 60 minute live performance set in Oamaru’s unique historic quarter. It incorporates the idea of moving drama, comedy and Victorian theatricality to engage visitors in a compelling and contemporary way. It forms the ‘hub’ of a heritage experience aimed at ‘bringing alive’ Oamaru’s unique historic quarter. The show premiered during the town’s renowned Victorian Heritage Celebrations in November 2007 and finished its first season in March 2008 to wide community and visitor acclaim.
The show requires three actors, two male and one female, who tell the true story of Oamaru's 'great storm' in the style of "theatre of the imagination". Rather like indoor street theatre, this style of performance relies on actors ,aking on a variety of parts to tell a story in a minimalist setting. By using props, sound, light and physical theatre, they transform the almost bare acting space into a place of magic.
Auditions will be held in Christchurch/Oamaru/Dunedin throughout September 2008. Rehearsals will commence mid November 2008. The summer season runs from early December 2008 through early April 2009. There will be daily performances 6 days a week - likely to be Tuesday through Sunday - with both a matinee and early evening performance.
