Melbourne Season commences in December, 2008
Rehearsals for all new cast commences in Sydney in September, 2008
Contracts for all cast will be for the Run of Play in Melbourne and as per the
Billy Elliot The Musical Performers Collective Agreement 2007-2009.
For Non Melbourne Residents the 6 month provision will apply for the Melbourne preperformance period and performance season.

Males, aged 40 to 65 from Australia
He's Billy's boxing coach, and a miner. Tough old exterior but a big softy underneath. He has a good sense of humour! Actor. Good comedy skills! Must sing. Some tap dancing skills an advantage. (This character appears in miner?s ensemble scenes)

Older Billy
Males, aged 20 to 30 from Australia
Billys older self. It is essential this character be a very strong ballet dancer. He is also part of the ensemble, and plays a miner and policeman etc. Some Tap skill is important, singing and acting skills required!

Male ensemble and swings
Males, aged 20 to 50 from Australia
There are 11 male ensemble varying in age from early 20's to 50's. All must be able to sing At least 5 x Tenors to Bb and Baritones. All must have some dance skills including tap! 2 x will need to have good ballet training for cover purposes. Covers for Dad/George/Tony/Mr Braithwaite/Older Billy - must come from this ensemble. Strong acting skills required.

Female ensemble and swings
Females, aged 30 to 70 from Australia
There are 3 female ensemble - 2 x mid 30's - 1 x 50's - 70's age. All must sing - Soprano's x 2 up to an A in chest voice. There are no glamorous female roles (they're partners of the men,who are all shapes and sizes!) At least 2 will need tap skills. 1 must have some ballet/ dance skill. Strong character actors. Covers for Mrs Wilkinson, Dead Mum and Grandmother come from this ensemble.
