Once Bitten is an exciting new documentary series for SBS (Australia) and Maori TV (New Zealand) that will follow the personal and intimate stories of couples as they negotiate the social, cultural and familial complexities of love the second, third or more time around.
We are looking for participants who are willing to share their stories and reveal the real issues that couples and families are facing today in their pursuit of love: dealing with ex’s, blended and Step families, mixed marriages, the issues of culture, religion and much more.
Once Bitten promises to be a benchmark series that opens debate and discussion about issues affecting us in our daily lives. The charter of both broadcasters is respected and will be delivered upon with the utmost integrity. This will be an important record of a contemporary social phenomenon with personal stories and will be supported by the latest research and statistics.
Do you have an interesting second-time round story?

• Are there more kids in your house some weekends than a football team? Is moving to a larger house not financially possible? Are there differences in how the kids should be brought up?
• Have you broken away from tradition and expectations the second time? Is yours a cross-cultural relationship? Have you chosen a more traditional path this time round?
• Are you questioning whether it is all worth it – the kids, the ex, the extended family? Are you older and supposedly wiser – but things are still complicated – your partner is ill, the older kids don’t want to talk, you’re thinking about counselling?
We are especially interested in couples and families with an event coming up, e.g. moving in together, getting married, having a baby, moving house. People also must be available to us for Christmas, Chanukah, or a special cultural celebration.
Filming will commence from August 2008, so if you believe that sharing your story – the joys, the complications, the pitfalls, the lessons learned – will give others an insight into family life today then we want to hear from you.
Please note: This is a documentary series that explores a point in our social history. It is not a reality series and no prizes or inducements are offered for any selected participants.
