Chris D is a singer/songwriter with a passion for Blues/Rock. After gigging his music as a solo artist he formed a band around his music and in October 2011 he began working with Marthinus Van Der Merwe from South Africa who joined him on the bass. In January 2012 Dean Butler joined the band on the drums and in March 2012 Dean Walton joined the band on the Harp. "Chris D and The Broken Machine" was formed.

The band played their 1st successful gig 2nd June 2012 at the Austerity free Festival in Derbyshire followed by recording sessions in July at "The Lounge" in Wigan and recorded a few blues demo tracks. During this time the bands drummer gave notice that he was leaving the band due to personal reasons. The band began to search for a new drummer and in the mean time the loss of the drummer gave Chris D the opportunity to take stock and during this time it was decided the Harmonica was not the right instrument for the project.
