I began acting at a young age, beginning with school and local productions. I knew i wanted to be on stage and infront of a camera very early on in life. After joining the Creative Dance Company in 2000, the passion I had for the talent grew imensely, and so did the adrenaline fuelled high that i felt everytime i stepped out onto a stage. My most accomplished performances have been my recent productions - being Belle in Beauty and the Beast was such an honour, as was working with such a skilled and welcoming cast.
I performed as Laura from Noel Coward's Still Life in February 2011. The positive and heart-warming feedback that I gained from portraying such a dramatic character has only driven my passion for acting even further. Being able to move an audience to tears in such a dramatic atmopsphere, similarly to when i performed in The Crucible, creates such a sense of accomplishment.
I have acted in many comedýs too; many of which involved me performing as a male character. I thoroughly enjoy portraying masculine characters (examples are Judge Gaffney from Harvey and Manny from Gizmo) in a hugely comic backdrop - I love being the reason to make an audience laugh and enjoy their time in a theatre even more so. Comedy has allowed me to open up my acting abilities so much more; I find that especially with the male characters that i have played, I've had to really investigate tiny traits that men in general do, simple mannerisms that create that reason to laugh.
I have just finished filming a short film in York, where I was the leading actress. The experience I gained from acting infront of camera has definately been worth while and hopefully set me on good ground for future productions.
