I have been a professional musician, singer and songwriter for over ten years. I hold an MA in Songwriting and a BA (HONS) in Contemporary Performing Arts, in which music was my principal subject.

For the last four years I have held a position with an independent record company and publishing house as a staff writer, whilst remaining highly active as an artist in my own right.

Prior to this my career encompassed a broad range of aspects of the music industry:

I have formed, managed, written for, produced and performed in successful bands; set-up and run an independent record label and studio; co-coordinated music events and established long-running partnerships with venues; and devised and delivered innovative courses in songwriting for schools and FE institutions.

For the duration of my career to date though, my main area of interest has been in writing and performing as a solo artist. In 2006 I produced and independently released a six track EP of original material and embarked on a nationwide tour to promote it. During this time it was in equal measure the material presented on the EP, its production value and my reputation as a performer that came to be instrumental in my securing a recording contract from the record label with whom I have remained to date and who released my album 'You And Other Stories', which went on to garner critical acclaim.

As it pertains to music my main area of interest has been in post 1950s western popular music with an emphasis on the Anlgo-American singer/songwriter movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s and my fascination resonates in my own compositions. This has resulted in my being accomplished as a self-accompanying finger-style guitarist and vocalist. My work as a writer and in the studio has also facilitated a good standard of ability with other instruments, such as the piano, bass and drums and I have an aptitude for arranging backing vocals.
