I am a Mancunian vocalist living in exile in deepest darkest rural Suffolk. In between dodging tractors and the occasional brand new combine harvester, I spend my time singing, trying (and miserably failing) to learn how to play the guitar, and working open mic nights, trying to get a break.
With a love of folk music and somewhat eclectic tastes, I quickly learned that an audience simply do not expect a girl whose proportions could be charitably called 'well upholstered' to sing with a fey, timid voice - as a result I tried my hand at something a little more robust, and nearly blew the PA system in my local pub up. My voice is rich, warm and soulful - with a little bit of an edge.
Tastes and influences include Maddy Pryor, Ruby Turner, Ella Fitzgerald, Cerys Matthews, Eliza Carthy, Norma Waterson, Linda Thompson and Kirsty MacColl.
I would love to write more of her own material but I desperately need a collaborator who can actually play a musical instrument.
