MUSICAL DIRECTOR WANTED
The Melbourne University Chinese Music Group (MUCMG) will be staging a 2012 Musical Production based on the legendary Chinese love story
Butterfly Lovers (equivalent to Romeo and Juliet)
Synopsis:
A story about everlasting love and overcoming rigid social expectation
Being the youngest child and the only daughter in the reputable Zhu family, Yingtai has always been spoilt and free-spirited. Her concerned and conservative father made a deal with her to induce her to find a suitable partner before she passed her prime age. Yingtai must disguise as a boy and outperform all the boys at Wansong Academy or she would have to yield to the arranged marriage with Wencai Ma, son of another wealthy family.
At Wansong, Yingtai started a troubled relationship with Shanbo Liang, a dedicated but poor scholar. Little did they realise that their encounter would gradually evolve into a compelling and poignant love story.
Would their love endure the difficulties and survive the prejudices and expectations of their society eventually?
