OTF aims to celebrate new and independent filmmakers, their comic masterpieces and their excellent sense of humour. We are committed to encouraging and stimulating comedy film production in Australia and WA in particular. We remain dedicated to producing a festival which celebrates the genre of comedy and always entertains and inspires.

OTF is, and always will be, a grassroots festival, dedicated to championing the indie filmmakers who are the starting point of a flourishing filmmaking industry. We are steadfast in our provision of a forum for the exhibition of new films and the creation of a vibrant, stimulating, inspiring environment for filmmakers and audiences. And we are determined to bring laughter and joy to people.

OTF’s mission is to consistently challenge people’s ideas of what comedy is, to give our audience a whole new experience of the way in which funny stories can be told. We achieve this outcome by presenting them with a wide variety of not just filmmaking styles, but genre’s of comedy, too.

OTF has toured nationally since 2000 and internationally since 2003, and we are a proudly WA produced film festival. OTF was re-launched in 2008 as an international film festival (as opposed to screening exclusively Australian content), and we have received an extraordinary range of films from Australian and international filmmakers since making the change.
