Musical and dance production by Showkhan
Inviting crew and performers to work towards a spectacular show of international standard to be staged in a major theatre in Sydney in November 2012 with plans to export to the international markets thereafter. Directed and produced by Seewoo Kim with a wealth of experience in Asian markets for dance musicals of mega scale. This is a dance musical, incorporating musical performance with predominantly jazz, contemporary, tap, ballet, hip hop and break dance.

So we wanna hear from all you talented people out there; composers, lyric writers, choreographers, costume designers etc. as well as musical actors and dancers.

Objectives
Art and culture has already erased national boundaries and difference in ethnicity, unifying the globe in oneness. Performances are being staged everywhere across the world regardless of national borders with artists from all backgrounds join together in harmony and co-operation under a project with the common aim of bringing it to life. Therefore there is a need and a market for productions that cater for this global community. And that is how we have arrived at a concept for a non-verbal dance performance, the Emperor.

This is an excellent opportunity for the Australian multicultural crew and actors to participate in a new project giving birth to a multicultural production.

What is it?
Non-verbal musicals are on the rise everywhere in the world. So why is our audience going crazy over this genre? The dance musical Emperor aspires to create a new style of musical bringing together the powerful experiences of a glam dance performance with sensuous music. The audience will experience a powerful stage performance and be carried away with sensuous musical pieces from this new theatrical poetry.

A never seen before approach to choreography of modern and jazz dance. A poetic focus on a movement of a hand, or a look. True to life actors/dance and performance!! The audience will be carried away by the never before seen choreography and the passion emulating from the powerful dances.

Synopsis
Act 1 Scene 2. The World as hell.
-People of all ages, race and ethnicity. Different aspects of street scenes. Red lantern district. People of costumes, looks and occupations from a busy daily life. A band of young men pouring onto the centre stage followed by an older horde of professional (gang) men. The men catch up with the young men and violence ensues. Dawn, a blind girl totters onto the stage with her walking stick and walks through the throng of grappling men. The leader of the pack stabs one of the young men in the chest, shoves the dagger quickly into hand of Dusk as siren screams, and exits the stage. Rest of the men exit as Dusk stares at the body crumpled on the floor before he too runs towards the opposite exit.

Act 1 Scene 4, The deal
-Dusk explains that the blood on the dagger may belong to the one that acted as eyes of the old man and it wasn’t he that caused the blood to flow. The old man insists that the one holding the dagger is responsible and he will take his eyes. ‘How preposterous, you poor wretch. The one that acted as your eyes was just as much a trash as I am. To think that even trash had some use..’ ‘Here, blind old wretched man. If you can better the strength of a younger then come. See if you can wrestle them out of their sockets..’ The old man confirms repeatedly of Dusk’s willingness to give up his eyes then tells him to call him when he’s ready. ‘However, since you insist it is unjust..’ As the old man steps out of the attic he promises him to grant him the power to have everything he wants in the world, just for a little while...
