The London Gypsy Orchestra is an exciting London-based ensemble of around 45 musicians, both amateur and semi-professional, who love Eastern European and Balkan Gypsy music. We rehearse every Thursday evening during term time near Russell Square, London WC1, and we perform regular concerts at venues including the Union Chapel and Cecil Sharp House, as well as running community events, workshops and jam sessions.

Currently there are spaces for guitar, double bass, percussion of any kind, tuba, and our biggest dream would be a sousaphone!

The orchestra is led by violinist and singer Gundula Gruen, who according to current members “laughs far more than the other conductors!!!” The music is taught by ear, and you won’t need any previous knowledge of this style. What you will need to bring is enthusiasm and commitment!
