Monique Derbyshire

Auckland, New Zealand

Model, Actor, Film & Stage Crew

I'm originally from Brazil, so Portuguese is my first language but I'm fluent in English. I'm a bubbly, outgoing, positive and determined person. We only live once so we have to make the most of it now to have no regrets later. I'm a full time Graphic Designer working in the Publishing industry. I also have a BA in Theatre and Film from Canterbury University. TV/Film has always been a passion of mine, either working in front or behind the cameras. Some of my hobbies include travelling, horse riding and ice skating (I used to be part of the NZ Adult Synchronized Ice Skating Team when I lived in Christchurch and we were selected to go to Australia a couple of times to compete in the Australian National Skating Championships).

Nelson Rodrigues was a Brazilian playwright, journalist and novelist. He went on to write many other seminal plays and today is widely regarded as Brazil's greatest playwright.

BA in Theatre and Film
During my 3 years of study we students were encouraged to work both as artists and as scholars at all levels: to read, think and write, but also to create, to act and direct, and to shoot and edit films. We had extensive experience with Final Cut Pro throughout the whole course. From preparing the script, sketching storyboards to setting up camera, lighting, sound and finally the entire editing process through adding special effects and animation.
