ROXY has recently celebrated over 2 decades in the music and entertainment industry. ROXY started his career in his mid-teens as a restaurant pianist in a busy Newcastle five star hotel. From there he was offered contracts with major cruise lines - P&O Cruises and Mediterranean Shipping Cruises, earning him the highest rating ever given by passengers for a Piano-vocal entertainer.
Always in high demand ROXY has fulfilled extensive contracts with the Hilton, Four Seasons, Heritage, Conrad and Sheraton chains, Island resorts and theatre restaurants. His career has seen him either as support act, working with or rubbing shoulders with great artists such as the Jacksons, Vince Melouney (Bee Gees and Aztecs) Lyn Bowtell (Bella), Max Merritt, Billy Thorpe, Glenn Shorrock and Diesel.
In between overseas gigs, he was always seen back in Australia entertaining patrons in many venues from small intimate piano bars and restaurants outside staged performances and special unplugged Cabaret shows in many clubs, pubs and theatres.
With most probably the most extensive song list known by any one performer internationally (4000 songs and melodies (over 30 hours of continuous live band recorded backing tracks)ranging from the classics to the new millennium or Dianna Krall to Michael Buble style lounge Jazz to Angels to Cold Chisel style rock), he can cater to any taste using his three tools of trade, a grand piano, blues harp and his voice. Or if you want to get up and boogie you can with his extensive ‘Party Repertoire’ featuring custom (non midi) live recorded backings guaranteed to smoke up the floor and get your mojo going.
Paul chose ROXY in dedication to relative and idol Samuel ROXY Rothafel – Father of Art Deco, New York Cinema impresario and founder of the Rockettes {formerly the Roxyettes} and Radio City Music Hall showman of the 1920's silent screen era.
Repertoire includes over 4000 songs and variants ranging from classical to the new millennium.
Solo shows include over 30 hours of continuous play live band recorded backing tracks.
All tracks including 5 days of continuous break music of all genres are on IPOD.
Gigs outside of Brisbane require sound and lighting production as well as grand piano or 88 note fully weighted keyboard. As well as travel and accommodation.
Rock gigs would work best with digital piano.
ROXY is a non reading musician who can lug and fit with almost any band, however is not available for cabaret or backing band work.
