I sang in a professional production of Kes! the musical, aged 11, and I became the lead singer of the school band. Both featured on the local news. When singing at the York Battle of the Bands, my band came 2nd. I also sang at the Bude Jazz Festival, aged 14.
When a Redcoat, I was 1 of the 3 lead singers in the Redcoat show and also took part in the contest, Red Idol, winning on many occasions. I then successfully auditioned for the part of ‘Mimi’ in the Skyline Gang at Butlins, which involved singing, dancing and acting in the twice nightly shows and performing in a pantomime twice a week. While at Butlins, I was asked to be 1 of the 3 backing singers for a Madonna tribute show, which I did with great pleasure even though it was on my only day off!
From Butlins I moved to Fantasy Island in Skegness to be the resident female singer, which increased my repertoire immensely. At the end of the season, I won the role of Betty Banana for Chaplins’ Pantomimes, which saw me singing, dancing and acting again.
I then became part of Girls Rloud, a Girls Aloud tribute band, as Kimberley and also worked for a company called Stagecoach where I taught children ranging from 4 - 7 year olds singing, acting and dancing.
I then put my pop singing roots to one side and concentrated on singing in musicals at drama school and incresing the range of my voice. My vocal range is now D to F# above top C, Belt to an A.
Since graduating in 2010 I was in the pantomime Cinderella, that Christmas, playing both roles of the Fairy Godmother and the Evil Queen. In 2011 I was the lead female vocalist of a touring cabaret show, I then finsihed off the year by performing in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk as the Good Fairy. All these roles including me singing solo songs and choral singing.
