Ian Roberts

California, United States

Actor

My name is Ian Roberts. Can I start by saying I do have a far greater range than that for which I am usually cast. I have been typecast as "the thug". This has, however, kept me working. Before acting I had played Rugby League professionally in Australia from 1985 until 1998. I represented at all levels, regionally, state and internationally. I represented Australia 13 times. In 1995 while representing Australia I became the first male athlete in a professional team sport/game in the world to speak openly and truthfully about my sexuality as a gay man. I'm proud to say my honesty has been well received by the media and the public. I retired from Rugby League in 1998 to pursue acting. I attended the "National Institute of Dramatic Art" (NIDA) in Australia and graduated in 2003. I've since been working consistently in a professional capacity. Thank you for taking the time to read my "about me" blurb. Regards, Ian.
