Avvy Hanks was born on December 22, 1992 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, to Josefina, a full-time stay-at-home mother of four, and John, an electrical engineer. She is of English and Mexican descents. At age 8, she knew she wanted to be a singer when she grew up, and by age 11, she took her first step toward becoming one when she performed at a school talent show for an Independence Day Program the school was hosting. She found she enjoyed singing more than anything and nurtured her talent. Although never quite a fan of performing on stage, from that point, she and her siblings would sing and perform for the congregation at their church, with Avvy continuing on to join their church choir, participate in Christmas Contatas, and join a choir class all four years of high school with multiple solos.
In the middle of her Senior Year, at the age of 18, her family moved to Germany. She then heard of the 150th Anniversary Celebratory Avon Voices International Talent Search and auditioned for it. She made it through to Round 1 and was flown to Paris, France for a recording session.
Since that time, she has recorded her own demos and A cappella songs and ideas, writing lyrics to match the melodies she’s created, all the while actively seeking work in the career field she’s always hoped to have, eager and ready to sing her way through life.
