I began practising in January 2018, and qualified as a teacher in 2020 having taken my 200 hour teacher training with My Vinyasa Practice, a studio based in Austin, Texas. I am continuing my studies with a view to qualifying at an advanced level, aiming at becoming a 500 hour RYT by the end of the year. You can find images of both my pole and yoga poses on my instagram @beccachii. My teaching brand is Heart Song Yoga, and I'm planning to launch that later in the year, COVID allowing!
I returned to ballet in 2017 after a long hiatus from dance. I joined the Intermediate Foundation class at the Lisa Beaumont School of Ballet and worked very hard to take the exam in under a year. I passed with Merit in March 2018 and now enjoy intermediate non-syllabus classes and am training to take my grade 7 exam. I have performed in the school dance show, and at several village fetes etc.
Having previously trained with several different schools, I installed a pole at home in 2019 and took my level 3 assessment (including performing moves in isolation, and choreographing my own routine) with the Pole Dance Community. I can perform various spins and tricks, and use both spinning and static poles.
I trained as a figure skater as a teenager and into my 20s, and still skate casually. I took the formal NISA tests up to the levels indicated above. I have previously performed in various shows on ice, and competed at open competitions around the UK. I placed on the podium in most competitions that I entered. I am confident at spinning (up to and including flying camel and other advanced spins). I currently only perform single rotation jumps as I do not train regularly. I only trained as a free skater, so have very little experience of ice dance or pair skating. I own off-ice (inline/wheeled) skates and can perform basic spins and jumps on any smooth, flat surface.
I am not enrolled in jazz or contemporary dance classes, but engage in these styles to compliment my pop vocal endeavours and am able to dance and sing simultaneously. As a child I studied and took examinations in ballroom, disco, acrobatics, character ballet, tap, modern, jazz, and folk dance styles.
I featured as an extra in a music video for Little Boots (dancing and roller skating), a music video for King David (dancing) and performed as a dancer & lead vocalist in night clubs in China.
