Meet the StarNow Crew – Lee

An avid mountain biker, collector of old video games, and a believer in having fun at all times… Meet the man who keeps our network running and is always keen to be behind the tools on the BBQ, Lee!

What's your role at StarNow, and what does a typical day at work involve for you? I am the Systems Engineer. A typical day at work would involve patching, monitoring, project work, fixing servers, keeping the network running, looking at logs and the list goes on!

What's your favourite part of your job/working for your team? The diversity of my role and having such a great team to work with. I have lots of things to keep me really busy.

What's your nickname in the office/what are you best known for in the office? I guess I'm best known for being that 'Fix It' guy.

What's your life motto? Try to always have fun and be yourself!

Where did you grow up and what was it like? I grew up in a small town north of Christchurch called Kaiapoi. During the 80's and 90's there was no internet or cell phones (yes, old I know), so I was always at a friend's house and always had something to do.

Take us to a place in Wellington that means something to you and tell us why you chose it! The Cuba St Bucket Fountain is an iconic 'sculpture' in Wellington. I wanted my photo there as when I first moved here in 2001, I got my first job at the hotel Bristol and walked passed it every day.

If you ruled the world, what would you change on Day 1? All guns would be destroyed!

What are you listening to, reading, watching of late, that is inspiring or entertaining to you? Trying to read Elon Musk, listening to Queens of the Stone Age and Macklemore. I watch (a lot) of Sci-Fi but have been watching Star Trek lately.

What's something you can't live without? Beer, cartoons and my girls! They are the best.

If you could teleport to another country right now in the blink of an eye, where would you go? The Maldives! It looks so nice and I have had friends go there who loved it!

Random Lee fact I collect old video games and consoles. I love the way games from the 80's and 90's play, look and feel. On the flip side to that I also like mountain biking, gardening and camping.

If you could give our members one piece of advice, what would it be? Be safe online and work hard for your goals.

Meet the rest of the StarNow team here.
