To kick off 2018 with a bang, StarNow ran a competition to give away $1,000 USD to a member who was keen to get ahead in the industry and put the money towards achieving their dreams!
11,000 people applied to Win Their Wish! And we received some great applications from all over the globe.
Singers wanting to put it towards a recording studio session, dancers wanting to refresh their costumes and dance shoes, actors wanting to create a new show reel and models wanting to put the money towards a professional photoshoot!
It was a very difficult decision to pick just one winner, but one well thought-out application message caught our eye…
Congratulations to our Win Your Wish winner – Rose M from Sydney, Australia!
Rose is a passionate actor wanting to continue practicing and improving her craft. When we Skyped her to give her the news she’d won – she was thrilled! We were really impressed with the thought she had put into the application message (it’s so important to customise your application message to Casting Professionals!), and she gave us a really great idea of how she wanted to spend the $1,000 USD prize money if she were to win.
Check out Rose’s winning application message below.
"Hi there! I have a solid plan and it's this: - around $400 for another American dialect term (actors hub or Screenwise). In terms of US training, I've completed a standard US dialect course last year as well as an intensive 6 week course in America to help me on my way. I want to continue training, especially with pilot season approaching! - $200 for hiring film equipment to film more scenes 'on location' for my reel - $200 to $300 for a variety of classes including casting director classes at TAFTA and MAA. It's important I keep getting my face on front of them (and learn at the same time) - the remaining money to go see shows! Keeping in the loop with indie theatre, and supporting our industry is also crucial. Plus it keeps me inspired! Thanks for the opportunity, Rose."The moral of the story - keep customising your application messages, and keep on applying!
