Meet Michael, one of our Customer Success Specialists! The office ‘class clown,’ you can always count on him to provide some laughter throughout your day. Read on for a chuckle or two, and find out a bit more about the man answering your questions and approving your listings!
What's your role at StarNow, and what does a typical day at work involve for you?
Sometimes I’m the first one to arrive to the office. If this is the case I check every room for spectres, ghosts or just general causes of the heebie jeebies. Then I turn the lights on. Then I sit down at my computer and I start ‘burning and earning.’ My colleagues are like, “where is that smoke coming from?” It’s from me. Burning up. Emails, castings, photos. I’m burning through em’ like a hot knife through cream.
What's your favourite part about working at StarNow?
COFFEE! The Customer Success team is alright too I guess.
Michael with the rest of the Customer Success team!
Who is your favourite member on StarNow?
Anyone who doesn’t use a selfie as a headshot is tops in my book.
If you could give our members one piece of advice, what would it be?
Think about what you are uploading to your profile and how it represents you. A photo can say a lot.
Where is a place in Wellington that is of significance to you and why?
A stall at one of the local markets called Oriental Blues. It has the best fried chicken in town!
Michael 'burning and earning.'
What’s your favourite blog or website?
The New Zealand Weather. You’ve got to know what’s coming…
Do you have any hidden talents, if so, what are they?
I can make fart sounds with three different parts of my body. Well… four, but one is cheating.
If you ruled the world, what would you change on day one?
Guns are out, swords are back baby!
Describe to us your ideal Saturday!
Brunch, beers, and babes! I start with the first film and then follow it up with the best sequel, Babe – Pig in the City.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Video games, street dancing, setting up ‘Home Alone’ style traps. The usual.
Michael giving us a laugh for the Customer Success 2019 calendar.
What would you like to tell yourself at the age of 13?
What did you want to be when you were five years old?
Spider-Man, I think.
If you were stuck on an island, what three items would you bring?
A boat, some fuel, and a map.
Who would you like to swap places with for a day and why?
Probably Shuhei Yoshida (the President of Sony's Worldwide Studios for Sony Interactive Entertainment).
I would spend the morning just going through his emails seeing what PlayStation has planned for the future. Then I would head over to Kojima Productions and hit up the big man Hideo to show me how far along ‘Death Stranding’ is. We would then sit down and I would get him to tell me about what the hell happened with Konami and Metal Gear Solid V, because we still don’t know! Hideo probably wouldn’t want to talk about it. But I would be his boss. So there.
What's the worst thing you have eaten?
I think I ate an off Brazil nut once. That was gross.
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
In a mirror or window reflection.
