My musical interest was kindled at a very early age at junior school playing the descant recorder. Being a cockney lad in a northern school didn't do much for my self esteem as it was a recipe that attracted the wrong attention so I guess it gave me an escape.
Forward 3 years into secondary school and I joined the school band playing Timpani and progressed onto Clarinet then Saxophone, an American Buescher True Tone C melody, bought for me by my parents.
After leaving school, I became involved in a local band with a workmate. We had some big ideas but the other band members didn't so it eventually fell apart. He went on to play bass with The Glitter Band, I went on to a rather long hiatus.
My interests were rekindled again in the 80's with the advent of electronic music which I never got to pursue until the turn of the century. I now compose various oddities as the mood takes me as and when time permits. There are a few examples on Soundcloud as 7 seconds to Sheffield.
An Irish friend of mine has recently reformed his band from the 60s/70s and is bringing some of their original material up to date and has asked me to engineer and publish for them, so that's another load of learning I have.
Sadly the Buescher is long gone thanks to my first wife, but my love for music goes on.
Life is never dull when you have music.
