My name is Craig Woolsey, I am 21 years old and I live in a small county called Norfolk in England (UK) This is a very quiet area with only a few select drama groups, which you can probably guess I do attend and take part in.
I joined a children's group at a very young age and had many starring roles. I eventually decided to be involved with a more serious adult group called 'Purple Dreams' where I feel I gained most of my experience. After taking part in the drama festival in Hunstanton, I was approached by another local group and asked to join their cast. I was very loyal to my group and declined, but did step in at last minute to help them out after a cast member quit.
This isn't the first time I have been approached and asked to join other productions. I was asked to be the starring role in 'Dick Whittington' A summer pantomime that would be on every Tuesday over the summer holidays. Unfortunately, due to not knowing if the Theatre was remaining open, this was cancelled.
One year I was actually spotted and asked if I would like extra work in Sky One's TV Documentry called 'Missing Children' The following year they got back in touch to ask if I would like to take part again in 'Missing Mums' Of course I accepted.
I currently still take part in the 'Purple Dreams' cast and last October We put on a very serious adult performance in which I played a murderer. The reaction I received and the comments given to me afterwards have given me the most confidence in my self as an actor, which Is why I am writing to you today.
I have always wanted to act, But have lacked the funds to go to a proper drama school. I started working to raise money to be able to afford this, but other things got in the way like rent and needing a car to actually get to work, so at the end of the day, I was left with no money.
My passion has always been to be in acting, But I realised I needed to try and get my self noticed. After attending a free modelling shoot, I decided to arrange a few more so that I could make a portfolio to send out to agencies.
In the past, it has been pointed out to me that I have quite a Jim Carrey likeability about me, and it has been mentioned many times how I am the new Ryan Reynolds. Although these are comedy actors, I have/know that I can do serious acting as well.
All I need is to be given the opportunity
