Donny Vosburgh BIO
THE GROOVE MASTER-Donny Vosburgh’s credits read like an anthology of the best of American music. The drummer has been has past member and performed with some of the country’s most influential artists, including James Brown, Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions, Iron Butterfly, Cactus, Thee Image, Alice Cooper and the Grammy Award winning Band Blues Image with their number one hit “Ride Captain Ride.”.
Donny started out playing in Las Vegas at the International Hotel with Headlining Show Band “The Entertainers “appearing with such greats as Elvis Presley, Don Rickles, Jack Benny and Buddy Hackett
Vosburgh played in the band with such legendary Artist as James Brown’s only Caucasian Drummer and also performed with Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions, Jerry Butler, Solomon and Burke and Mother’s Finest.
In addition to R&B and Rock, Vosburgh also has performed in the classical genre with Liberace protégé Classical Pianist Linda Gentile and The New Jersey Shore Pop Orchestra.
“I’m what you call a feel player,” he says. “I’m a chameleon. I’m not just one kind of player. I’m everything.”
Donny has been an recording Artist on Atlantic Records,RCA,Polydor and Emerson,Lake and Palmer’s Label Manticore Records as both writer and performer. Donny was accepted and is a member of the writers Guild ASCAP.
Donny appeared on TV in such classics as The Midnight Special and Don Kirshner’s Rock Concerts.
His largest audience was 350,000 people at the Ozark Mountain Music Fest with the Band Cactus.
However, despite the legendary laundry list, Vosburgh says the crowning achievement in his music career didn’t come until February 2006, when he was invited by the Department of Defense to perform for troops stationed in Iraq. “That was a real honor,” he says.
Donny since moving back to the South Florida area last year 2010 performed in the band with legendary Singer and founder of “The Jefferson Airplane” Marty Balin.
