Music G.C.S.E: Grade B

My interest in becoming a drummer occurred whilst watching a boy play in our school production, I was captivated by him and thought "I want to be able to do that!" Since then, I have played both electric and percussion drum kits as one of my favourite past-times for 11 years.
My experience includes:
Fame The Musical (March 2010), Hairspray The Musical (March 2011) & Mamma Mia The Musical (March 2012) as part of Pershore High School orchestra
Open Musician Nights at The Mars Bar, Worcester
Britain's Got Talent audition (October 2012)
Since leaving school I have continued drumming as a hobby and enjoy creating my own drum covers to popular songs and uploading videos to my YouTube channel.

TV & Reality

For many years, I have found the thrill of live theatre both captivating and intoxicating. This feeling was never more overt than during my recent visit to The West End to see The Elephant Man. I am fascinated by the concept of how an audience can be manipulated by the mood and emotion created by the actors on stage.
In this instance, it was Bradley Cooper's skill and versatility that I found so inspiring. His depiction of John Merrick's tragic life was both moving and sublime, all without the aid of prosthetics.
My passion lies with all aspects of live events, film and theatre. My artistic and creative side reveals itself through a keen interest in photography, music technology and technical theatre.
During my school life, I adopted a variety of roles. As a talented drummer, I was actively involved with the school orchestra, performing for productions such as Hairspray, Mamma Mia and Fame. I also enjoyed the hype through lead acting roles as Fagin in the musical Oliver and Sam in Lord of The Flies. Recently I performed for The New Alexandra Theatre’s annual Stage Experience, an intensive and exciting two week project, where future young actors, dancers, singers and technicians experience what it’s like to work on a professionally run musical theatre production.
Having favourably organised, produced and hosted a school version of the television comedy dating show Take Me Out-and raising a notable amount of money for the Ndola (Zambia) School Link project in the process-I realise the importance of teamwork to create a polished performance. The necessity for devotion, and commitment to hard work gave me first-hand experience of the industry.
Additionally, after the success of 'Take Me Out', the school asked me to host another fund raising event of 'I'm a teacher get me out of here'! This was a marvellous opportunity as I portrayed the role of Ant & Dec a duo that I have total admiration for!
It is not only the intimacy of live drama that enchants me, I am also an avid follower of the film industry. For films to impress me, factors such as direction, score and characterisation must work together in unison. Ultimately, I believe the success of a theatre production or film lies mostly in the hands of the actors who combine these factors through the quality of their performance.
Heath Ledger's hypnotic and eerie depiction of a psychotic Joker and Eddie Redmayne's captivating and exact portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything are my inspirations. I hope to emulate actors of such calibre.
I value the amazing opportunities my life has yielded. On a school visit to New York, I experienced the magic of Broadway. I also had a life changing opportunity to visit Zambia where I witnessed the simplicity of their culture. Basic everyday things we take for granted are sheer luxuries in comparison to the poverty I observed whilst in their country. Some children have no idea how they look, as they have no such items as mirrors. By taking a simple photograph of them, brought sheer delight and gave me enormous pleasure.
Wherever you visit, you never fail to feel the genuine friendliness of this country, who value the little they have. I have actively fund raised to aid this cause for a number of years.
The thought of a career in the world of performing arts fills me with excitement and some trepidation, but for me, an acting career would be the ultimate adrenalin rush. The challenges within the industry are not daunting but a motivational force which I hope will propel me to success.

Photography experience

Amateur photographer

I studied Photography at A level achieving an A* and then winning 2 awards for my outstanding achievements recognised by the AQA examining board who were blown away by my standard of work.
I enthuse with Natural light photography, capturing that one special moment in time.I have also done some voluntary work with Nextgen School Photography where I worked as part of a team dealing with the general public. I have commissioned my own individual portrait & family shoots editing them & then printing. I have produced some photographic pieces for a charity function for Interior Designer Laurence Llewellyn Bowen.
I was recently selected to attend a ‘Coaching for Progress’ course that enables me to mentor Year 8s on photography workshops. Photography is unique to the eye of every person. Some will lose themselves within an image, there is no right or wrong, the concept is within our imaginations and we can interpret it to mean almost anything.
