Part-time professional (paid work)
I am a keen photographer with over 30 years' experience in digital and film formats. Having spent almost two decades in the UK civil service, rising to Director level, I left central government to pursue my passion for photography at a professional level. I returned to college to study photography formally, while also setting up my business, Emma Lord Photography.
Personal development is something on which I place high importance, and as well as photography courses, I have undertaken training in pet first aid and animal psychology, towards developing my skills in working with pets and their owners. My pet photography has been used in a number of calendars and selected for display at a London exhibition in May 2017.
My portrait and business photography has a distinct and professional style. My calm demeanour and friendly approach puts my subjects at ease while I work with them to create personal and professional pictures. One of my newborn images was chosen to display in the new Warwick Hospital maternity ward, and I have provided official photographs for a London theatre group. More recently, I photographed a Warwickshire women's running club on a Calendar Girls style photoshoot for their 2017 charity calendar.
I devote a significant proportion of my time to charity work, including working with Swindon Mind and SMASH, a Swindon youth
mentoring project. I also visit local schools to talk about insects and other bugs, working to inspire and educate the next general of
botanists and naturalists. My presentation is built around her macro photography work, helping to bring to life the smaller residents with
which we share the environment.
