Born in Middlesex London, Gideon graduated in 2008 in the International Film School of Paris. He has since directed four short films (Until Death do us Part, It’s No Game, Memorial and Infinity) all of which have gained critical and commercial success throughout the indie circuit.
His first was a Supernatural Romantic comedy called Until Death do us Part. Although virtually ignored upon its first showing in 2012, it has since been selected for the 2014 American Online Film Festival, as well as being a finalist in the 2014 International Film Festival of Wales.
A year later Blackman completed his second short The Supernatural Black Comedy, It's No Game. The short gained strong critical reviews, as well as gaining a special mention at the short film blog website. It also helped Blackman in gaining gain respect with his fellow film making peers. It has since been selected and screened at the 2015 Meta Film Festival in Minsk.
In 2014 Blackman completed the short drama Memorial. It was a huge festival and critical breakthrough. It won shooting people's 2014 Film of the Month Competition, as well as being selected for the 2014 Portobello Film Festival. It was also selected for the 2014 Industry Avenue Event, as well as being screened in 2015 at an Exploding Cinema event. The short also reached the top 10 shorts of March 2014 for the online shortfilms website.
Blackman's newest short Infinity has proven to be one of his biggest sucesses yet. Being selected for the 2015 Portobello Film Festival in London, UK, being Nominated for best Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Film. It was also selected for the 2015 Blackbird Film Festival and 2016 Wiper Film Festival, both held in New York, USA. Infinity was also screened at the 2016 Golden Sun Short Film Festival in Malta, being nominated for best Short Film, as well as being selected for the 2016 Luma Bean Film Festival (St Louis, USA.) It has also been selected for the 2016 TIF Video Challenge in Turkey and was nominated for best short film at the 2016 International Open Film Festival (Bangladesh.)
Blackman completed his first feature length documentary, Four Corners Short, which is based on the making of his first four short films (Until Death do us Part, It's No Game, Memorial and Infinity) It has already been selected for the 2016 Wiper Film Festival (New York, USA) and the 2016 Ekurhuleni International Film Festival (Germany)
Blackman was also part of the film selection comitee for the 2016 International Open Film Festival (Bangladesh.)
