"Living in shared accommodation is great, especially when everyone steals your food and you're hopelessly in love with one of your housemates."

EGG is a short comedy/romance film set in the dynamic of shared accommodation. The humour plays on this dynamic; living with people you hardly know besides the short, awkward conversations as you pass each other in the corridor or bump into each other in the kitchen. All the characters in this story have different personalities and qualities and how they interact with each other reflects this.

The story revolves around the struggles of the character, Charlie; as he not only tries to muster up the courage to ask his housemate out on a date but also as he attempts to catch the felon who keeps stealing his food. However, with Charlie aside, the story allows for just as much insight into the personalities and intentions of the other two characters, Léa and Veronica, and how they affect Charlie's quest.

This is a passion project, self-funded by me, based from a script that I have been writing and refining for a while. The characters and events in the script have changed numerous times throughout the process but now I am settled in the story and I have three characters that are so different yet so similar and I am very excited to see them come alive and I cannot wait to work with actors to do that!

Charlie likes organisation and order. He has his routine and he has a place for everything. Sounds like someone in control, right? Wrong. One thing Charlie can't control is his feelings; specifically towards his housemate, Léa. He's hopelessly in love. The story begins with him trying to ask her out in the kitchen while he makes dinner (an omlette) but he fails miserably. She leaves in a rush and he's left to his omlette. There's just one problem; his last egg is missing!

Léa is quite lonely. She recently moved from France and doesn't have many friends in her new home. She's also still learning the new language and she finds that this can cause a barrier between conversations. She appears shy but is quite sarcastic once you get to know her. She likes to talk to Charlie, she'll find excuses to bump into him in the kitchen. She thinks he's cute; in an affectionate or sympathetic way, she's not sure. But she'd like to find out, if only Charlie would ask her out!

Female, aged 18 to 25

Veronica doesn't like people; not any certain type of people, just anyone with a pulse. She's happiest in her own company, so why compromise? She thinks Charlie is quite pathetic, she likes to push his buttons from time to time; it's too easy. Another thing she likes is food, specifically food that she hasn't bought herself. She's also well aware that Charlie and Léa fancy each other, so she devises a plan to get them out the flat so she can steal some more food: get them to go out on a date!
