Rob is an astronaut currently orbiting the Earth in a shuttle craft. Playful, yet headstrong; a trained pilot with the authoritative presence that such a job requires. Is in conversation with his wife via video call but still maintains a professional attitude and scientific sense of reasoning.
Requires an actor comfortable with delivering lines straight to single-setup camera, as if talking via video call. Needs to appear relatively fit & athletic as well as presenting as a well-educated man.
Males, aged 27 to 35 from Leeds, UK
Female, late-twenties to early thirties. ‘Bookish’ in appearance, heavily pregnant with child of astronaut Rob and every bit his intellectual equal. Steph is communicating with her husband via video call, so actress will need to be comfortable delivering lines against a character who may not necessarily be in the room during filming. Prosthetic ‘baby-bump’ will be used during filming.
Females, aged 27 to 35 from Leeds, UK
Male, 40-50 years old, senior figure at the space command centre and former mission commander. A typical ‘nerdy’ astrophysicist, intelligent and laid back. Is comfortable allowing his main shuttle pilot to have some down time with his spouse while still ensuring the mission is on schedule and keeping in control of the overall situation.
