The show revolves around a presenter who introduces various guests in the form of musicians, artists and a host of fictional characters. Combining sketches and live studio improv, the show evokes the spirit of cable access television from the 90's and 2000's. Practical effects, green screen and a multicamera setup act as a throwback to older entertainment and a counter to todays immediate digital age. The show will look to blend esoteric and broad comedy and have the digital audience in mind but won't be afraid to test their patience ;)
I'm planning to shoot the show in a studio setting with pre-recorded sketches being added in the edit. To give an idea of the type of show I'd say watch any old public access television shows like "Let's Paint TV" and "Chic-A-Go-Go" along with Adult Swim shows "The Eric Andre Show" and "Loiter Squad". The idea only exists in note form as of yet so I'm hoping the end result will be a work of a collective. I think this type of show is a good platform for any young creative person in any field to showcase idea no matter how abstract or traditional. The show will mix music, artistic design (set, makeup), writing, costume, props and visual art to create a flowing comedy show.
More information available upon application, as it's hard to summarise here during the early stage of creation.
Audition / Rehearsal / Production datesNo dates set. Currently in writing stage. Hopefully if all goes very well, I'd hope to have a location, crew and a show to record by next Spring/Summer (2020)

Comedy writer to produce presenter monologues for a fictional TV show host, various sketches (parody, surreal, slapstick) The show is quite anarchic and absurdist but hopefully will be able to balance postmodernism with sincerity.

Cameraman/Cinematographer. Basically someone who knows how to shoot a tv entertainment show in a studio setting who can also film scenes on location. The show is a mix of studio and on location so someone who knows their way around a camera would be perfect. I planned on filming the show myself but would prefer to produce/direct and be able to work with someone who is more capable technically. I can give tons of references to anyone interested to give a better idea of the shows visual aesthetic.

On the show, our presenter will introduce a live band to play out the show. I have two ideas, one is to try and book real bands, two is to create fake bands who don't exist and write original music for the actors playing the band to perform. This is where I may need a songwriter. The bands span multiple genres. I have loads of band ideas but not many fake songs to go with their 'look'. I would ideally hire a musician who can write great but mostly funny songs to with these conceptual bands.
