When Aydin is informed that the man he remembers to be his first love has passed away he is confronted by the idea that their memory will be lost forever with his own mortality.
As Aydin recounts being 16 and the relationship he formed with his boxing trainer, Asher, he reflects on the notion of melancholy and love. The film questions how we can mourn the end of a moment while it is happening and the intensity of attachments throughout our life. Aydin explores a synchronicity between the vulnerability and strength required in boxing and in his relationship with Asher.
We have already cast the 16 year old version of Aydin, and are currently seeking a 5-10 year old Aydin who appears in one scene with his mother. Obviously we'll be trying to match appearance as much as possible. They will only be required for 1 half day of filming, catering will be provided.
VCA film sets are held to a high professional standard. Crew on set will be required to hold a valid Working With Children and a guardian must be present on set at all times. Those cast will be required to sign an artist release agreement and will be protected under the University of Melbourne insurance policy.
