Primitive Films Requires Lead Female Actor for Short Film

Victoria, Australia
Listed by View details

Primitive Films requires a female actor in the age range of 30-40 to play the lead role of Leah in our upcoming proof of concept short film ‘Salt Lake’.

Written, Produced and Directed by Luke Creely, ‘Salt Lake’ is about a young woman (Leah) who, in the wake of an unprecedented traumatic event, experiences a psychotic episode.

A raw, candid and confronting representation of psychosis, the main aim of ‘Salt Lake’ is to promote empathy and understanding for those who have experienced complex mental illness. It is a film that uses imagery, sound and dream logic to visually encapsulate what is often difficult to communicate through words. It gives the ‘experience’ of psychosis to the audience to help explain what is often unexplainable.

As the screenplay has minimal dialogue, we require an actor who has strong improvisational skills and can convincingly portray a complex array of intense emotions through body language, expression and eyes. We also require an actor who is passionate about mental health awareness and is interested in becoming an enthusiastic advocate for the film and the subject matter.

To be considered for the role, please provide a CV, headshots and either a showreel or online examples of your acting.

If successful, our director will contact you to organise an audition.

Please Note: only successful applicants will be contacted.
