"Unimportant" is the latest short film from "A Bit of Strange", the team that created "Nour".

It is a minimal dialogue philosophical piece that tells a story of mankind from an outsider's perspective.

As with most of our recent projects, we expect to be entering it into film festivals around the world. Also, like most of our projects, it is a passion project and alas unpaid.

We expect to be shooting at weekends, probably over 4 or five shoot days in total, though not everyone will be required at all days.

We have separate ads here for other roles, but this one is for our Sound Engineer, so let's talk a little about that:

There is no dialogue in this film, though potentially there may be some spoken sounds from people in background action. This requires very little work from you as it'll be quiet and muffled.

There will be a number of small sounds within the film, some of which will be recorded on set (eg. some feet stamping) and some of which will need to be created or otherwise sources (eg. some flint knapping, a roman legion trudging). You will be looking at the script and at the shot lists and advising the production team on what they need to record on the shoot days (you would be very welcome to join us and help record them!).

We are also highly likely to have music played for a large part of the film - so your role in Post would be some polishing of the sounds and the overlaid music. The editor works in Premiere Pro on PC, so ideally you'll be on PC too, though of course that's not essential.

You'll be working closely with one specific individual (he will be 1st AD on shoot days and editor afterwards), so between you, you have the power to make the sound on this fantastic. Coupled with the stunning visuals that we're expecting, this will be an interesting, challenging and hopefully magnificent project!

Audition / Rehearsal / Production dates

Probably over 4/5 days at weekends over November/December, though we may try and get a cheeky little day in on October 5 or 6 as there's a specific shot against some crops that might not be available after October.
