About Miranda...
Miranda coaches screen naturalism. In her work with actors and directors, she introduces simple but innovative ways of thinking about achieving connection and character. She has developed a series of tools and exercises for use in rehearsal and on set that get actors to where they need to be, fast.
Miranda has coached many Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA award-nominated and winning performances in film and television, including Big Little Lies; This Country; The Killing Deer; The Beguiled; Lion; Destroyer and many more.
Directors Miranda has worked with include Jane Campion, Peter Jackson, Morten Tyldum, Gabo Csupo, Gaylene Preston and Garth Davis. Actors include Nicole Kidman, Juliette Binoche, Dev Patel, Josh Hutherson, Saoirse Ronan, Isabelle Fuhrman, AnnaSophia Robb and many others.
Miranda's daughter Thomasin McKenzie is the winner of the US NBR award for breakout talent (2018) in the acclaimed Debra Grannik movie Leave No Trace. More recently Thomasin has starred in The King, True History of the Kelly Gang and JoJo Rabbit.
Miranda works online or in person with clients all over the world. She is also in demand as a teacher and speaker internationally - for instance, TIFF Toronto Rising Starts; AFTRS, Sydney; London Film School and Directors UK.
Miranda has been awarded the ONZM (for services to theatre and the community); the 1990 NZ suffrage Medal for contribution to women; and the 2017 NEXT Woman of the Year (Arts).
She has also won many awards and nominations for acting and directing, including Best Actress and Best Director at the Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards.
Miranda's first feature film The Changeover, co-directed with Stuart McKenzie, was released to acclaim in NZ and recently in the UK and the US. It has been celebrated for "reinvigorating the YA genre" (Forbes); and bringing YA fantasy magically to life" LA Times).
Miranda's coaching is enriched by her work at the forefront of internationally of Verbatim theatre - real voices, real texts.
